Inauguration

25th Filling Station

Indian Oil (Mauritius) Ltd.

16 January 2020

Mr. Singh, Mr. Parasher,

Members of the media,

Ladies & Gentlemen,

I would like to thank the Indian Oil (Mauritius) Ltd. for inviting me here today. It is an important occasion as the Indian Oil inaugurates its 25th filling station in Mauritius. It is a creditable achievement.

The parent company of IOML Mauritius, the Indian Oil is a premier Public Sector company in India. It has a high ranking among the Fortune Global 500 companies. It has a turnover of nearly US$ 90 billion and a team of more than 33,000 people.

In India the company has a high share in the country’s energy sector, with 11 refineries and 14,000 km long network of pipelines and nearly 30,000 filling stations. Besides the range of petrochemicals, it has a large presence also in the cooking gas and aviation fuel sectors in India.

IOL has a global presence. Outside India, the company has operations not only in Mauritius but is present in UAE, Sri Lanka, Canada, Singapore, Sweden, USA and The Netherlands as also Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal and Bhutan. They have joint ventures in South Africa, Nigeria, Russia and Venezuela. It exports petroleum products to 70 countries.

In Mauritius, the company is present since 2004. Its retail operations have continued to expand since then on the basis of providing quality service. Out of its 25 filling stations, 5 are located along the main motorway.

Indian Oil Mauritius has a dedicated pipeline unlike other companies and also has strict quality controls on the fuel quality conducted in their own specialized Laboratory. This allows them to deliver assured quality products to their customers.

Their team comprises 40 officials out of which 36 are from Mauritius. Many of them travel to India to attend specialised training programmes at the Training Institutes of the Indian Oil in Delhi and Mumbai.

The company remains committed to their social responsibility. I understand that during the last one year it has contributed nearly MUR 10 lakh towards important social causes including healthcare, poverty alleviation and helping the vulnerable sections of society. These efforts are commendable.

The expansion of operations of Indian Oil Mauritius is a testimony to the professionalism of the leadership and the entire team of the company. The company is also a symbol of the strong partnership between India and Mauritius.

May I once again congratulate the leadership and the team of Indian Oil Mauritius on this major landmark and wish them continued success in their operations and services.
