Visit of ICGS SANGRAM to Port Louis from 13-16 February 2014

1.The long standing and multifaceted defence cooperation between India and Mauritius includes joint EEZ surveillance, anti- piracy patrolling and training of personnel of the National Coast Guard/Mauritius Police Force on a regular basis.

2.In keeping with this tradition, the ICGS Sangramwill be calling at Port Louis Harbour from 13 – 16 February2014 after a long maritime patrol in the Indian Ocean Region. During its stay in harbour, the ship will conduct training for NCG personnel onboard. Personnel from the ship will also be participation in a blood donation drive, among several other social activities.The ship will also be open for visitors and the general public on Saturday, 15 February2014 from 1000 – 1400 hrs.

3.The ship will departon 16 February2014, and will carry out EEZ surveillance on the way back to India and also carry critical stores and personnel for various agencies positioned at St Brandon Islands.

4.ICGS Sangram is an Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel. The ship was commissioned on 29 March 1997 and is currently positioned at Mumbai under the administrative and operational control of Coast Guard Regional Headquarters, West. ICGS Sangramhas been indigenously built in India by Goa Shipyard Ltd.The ship is presently commanded by Deputy Inspector General AK Harbola, TM.
