Gift of 100,000 doses of Made-in-India Covid-19 vaccines to Mauritius

22 January, 2021

As part of ongoing efforts to gift Made-in-India Covid-19 vaccines to key partner countries under Mission #VaccineMatri, 100,000 doses of Made-In-India Covid-19 vaccines were sent by the Government of India to Mauritius today. The consignment in 10,000 vials was delivered by an Indian Naval P8Iaircraft that landed in Mauritius in the evening of January 22, 2021 after covering a distance of approximately 2500 nm. In a reflection of the special, strong and time-tested friendship between Mauritius and India, the Hon. Prime Minister of Mauritius, Pravind Kumar Jugnauth was personally present at the airport to receive the consignment that was handed over by the High Commissioner of India to Mauritius, Mrs. K. Nandini Singla in the presence of Cabinet Ministers of the Government of Mauritius.

Mauritius is one of the seven prioritypartner countries of India in the world to receive the first gift of Covid-19 vaccines from India. Moreover, these Made-in-India vaccines have been received in Mauritius within a week of the launch of the world’s largest vaccination drive in India under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on January 16, 2021. This gesture of gifting Covid-19 vaccines to our key partner countries is based on India’s deep commitment to using our vaccine production and delivery capacity to benefit all of humanity and contribute to the policy of Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR).

India hopes that the arrival of the vaccines will usher in a brighter and better future for all Mauritians.
