Press Release: Know India Programme 2017-18

The High Commission of India, Port Louis is pleased to inform that this year, the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi, will be organizing six Know India Programme (KIP), one of Government of India’s flagship initiatives for engagement with young overseas Indians.

In this connection, the Smt. Sushma Swaraj, External Affairs Minister of India, inaugurated a new online portal for KIP on 17 June 2017. The portal www.kip.gov.in enables Indian-origin youth to apply online for KIP programmes. The schedule of KIPs has been finalised and can be seen online. Indian-origin youth can submit applications online for the following first four KIPs to be held in 2017 i.e. 41, 42, 43 & 44:

Please note that the 45th and 46th KIPs will be held in early 2018. Applications for these KIPs will be accepted in October. 

Among new features, the applicants can indicate their preferences online for any three KIPs. Preference would be given to selection of KIP participants from Mauritius, Fiji, Suriname, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, especially second, third and fourth generation overseas Indians who have never visited India so far. A copy of the KIP guidelines is enclosed. Applications can be submitted online by the overseas Indians from 23 June to 21 July 2017. Instructions on how to apply would be uploaded shortly on the KIP portal. The final list of KIP participants will be drawn up shortly thereafter.

The High Commission of India, Port Louis, invites eligible Mauritian youth of Indian origin to kindly visit the KIP portal www.kip.gov.in and submit their applications for the upcoming KIPs.
