The High Commission of India in collaboration with Ministry of Arts & Culture, Government of Mauritius and The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) organized an “India Week” to celebrate 50th years of independence of Mauritius from 14th April - 22nd April 2018.

The following six cultural groups, five of which came from ICCR, staged performances in Mauritius during the “India Week” :

On 17th April 2018, a Gala show at the Swami Vivekananda International Convention Centre was organized, where all five troupes from ICCR including Ms. Kavita Paudwal, as well as the Kathak, Rajasthani folk, Brij Lok Kala Manch and the Bhangra group, staged their performances. Acting President of Mauritius H.E. Mr. Paramasivum Pillay Vyapoory, Acting Prime Minister of Mauritius Hon. Ivan Leslie Collendavelloo, Speaker of the National Assembly Ms. Maya Hanoonmanjee, along with senior members of Cabinet, attended the gala show. The cultural show was highly appreciated and applauded by an audience of 1500 attendees. In all, several thousand Mauritians from different parts of Mauritius enjoyed the India Week, which was held across a range of concert halls and open-air venues including shopping malls in the country, in a festive spirit.
