Constitution Day of India celebrated in Mauritius

In connection with the Constitution Day of India, which falls on 26th November, a function was organized by the High Commission of India at the Indira Gandhi Centre for Indian Culture, graced by H.E. Mr. Ivan Leslie Collendavelloo, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Mauritius, as Chief Guest, on 24 November 2017. The programme started with the garlanding of the portrait of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar by DPM Ivan Collendavelloo, High Commissioner of India Abhay Thakur and Representative of Mauritius Arya Ravived Pracharini Sabha Deenesh Goundory. In his remarks, DPM Ivan Collendavelloo dwelt upon the exchanges and flow of ideas between India and Mauritius in the legal field. Representative of the Arya Ravived Pracharini Sabha Deenesh Goundory gave a detailed account of life and contribution of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The function was attended by 150 Mauritian guests, active in the fields of law and cultural cooperation with India. An Exhibition on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was also organized on the occasion.

The preamble of the Indian Constitution was read out by the members of the High Commission of India today.
