Celebration of 71st Anniversary of India's Independence Day

To commemorate the 71st Anniversary of India’s Independence Day, a flag hoisting ceremony was held today at 0900 hrs at the Indira Gandhi Centre for Indian Culture, Phoenix. Hon’ble Gen. (Dr) V.K. Singh (Retd), Minister of State for External Affairs unfurled the National Flag of India. High Commissioner of India read out the message to the nation from Hon’ble President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind. In his address to the audience, Hon’ble Gen. (Dr) V.K. Singh (Retd), conveyed his greetings and emphazised the importance of the India-Mauritius cultural and people-to-people level ties in the context of the forthcoming World Hindi Conference 2018.  Nearly 1500 Indian nationals and Mauritian friends of India in Mauritius attended the event.
