Shri K.R. Periyakaruppan, Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments of the Tamil Nadu State Government visited Mauritius from February 21-24, 2010 at the invitation of the Vice President of Mauritius. He held meetings with the President Rt. Hon. Anerood Jugnauth, Prime Minister Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam, Vice President Mr. Angidi Chettiar and Leader of the Opposition Mr. Paul Berenger.

Shri Periyakaruppan had interactions with Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economic Empowerment Dr. Rama Sithanen, the Minister of Public Infrastructure, Land Transport and Shipping Mr. Anil Baichoo and the Minister of Education, Culture and Human Resources Dr. Vasant Bunwareee.

Shri Periyakaruppan had interactions with Tamil socio-cultural organisations including the Mauritius Tamil Temple Federation (MTTF), Tamil Chamber of Commerce (TCC) and Mauritius Tamil Cultural Centre Trust (MTTCC). Shri Periyakaruppan visited MGI, Aapravasi Ghat and SSR Samadhi. A reception was also hosted in his honour by the Tamil League.
