          In connection with the celebrations of the 69th Republic Day, the High Commission of India organized a colourful cultural programme today, followed by a reception for about 600 guests, at the Indira Gandhi Centre for Indian Culture, Phoenix.  Hon. Ivan Leslie Collendavelloo, Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius was the Chief Guest.  Minister Mentor Sir Anerood Jugnauth and Lady Jugnauth, as well as dignitaries from all walks of life in Mauritius attended the event. 

2. Titled ‘Pehchaan’, the cultural programme included a performance by Sitar Maestro Pandit Batuk Nath Mishra from Varanasi followed by a combined performance by various socio-cultural groups of Indian origin in Mauritius comprising of Kishore Khimia and Group (Bhojpuri), Dubreuil Marathi Shri Ganesh Mandir Group (Marathi), Tyack Telugu Group (Telugu), Devraj Moothoosamy (Tamil) and Belall Lallmohamed (Urdu Ghazal).

3. In his remarks on the occasion, High Commissioner of India Shri Abhay Thakur emphasized the age-old bonds of kinship and culture between India and Mauritius, which were amply displayed during the programme.
