INSV TARINI MAIDEN VISIT TO MAURITIUS 

            Indian Naval Sailing Vessel Tarini arrived at Port Louis, Mauritius on 06 June 2017 on her maiden visit to Mauritius since her induction into the Indian Navy in February 2017. Tarini is the sister Vessel of Indian Navy’s first sailing Vessel INSV Mhadei. INSV Tarini is 55 feet in length and has been built in India under the ‘Make in India’ initiative of the Indian Navy, at M/s Aquarius Shipyard, Goa. Tarini boasts of modern state-of- the-art sail and mast riggings, including deck fittings and equipment.

2.The Vessel is skippered by Lieutenant Commander Vartika Joshi (a Naval Architect) and her crew comprises Lieutenant Commander Pratibha Jamwal, Lieutenants P Swathi, Vijaya Devi, Payal Gupta and B Aishwarya.

3.The INSV Tarini, with her all-women crew, is preparing to undertake a historic circumnavigation of the globe in 2017-18, during which INSV Tarini would halt at Fremantle in Australia, Lletylton in New Zealand, Port Stanley in the Falklands and Cape Town in South Africa. The circumnavigation is scheduled to be completed at Mumbai in April 2018.
