At the invitation of Government of Mauritius, Hon’ble Shri Yogi Adiyanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, India and Hon. Shri Giriraj Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, are on an official visit to Mauritius from November 1-3, 2017 to participate in the 183rd Anniversary of Aapravasi Divas on 2nd November 2017. Hon’ble Shri Yogi Adiyanath is the Chief Guest on the occasion.

Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adiyanath and Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) MSME, Shri Giriraj Singh called on Hon. Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, Prime Minister of the Government of Mauritius on 1st November 2017. During the meeting, both sides emphasized that the relations between India and Mauritius are based on deep mutual trust and confidence and built on the foundation of centuries old bonds of kinship and culture. Our ties have entered a new dynamic phase of multi-faceted and multi-sectoral cooperation, characterized by wide range of ongoing developmental assistance projects and initiatives in the area of economy of culture.

Earlier on 1 November 2017, both Ministers visited Petit Raffray, where they interacted with local people and residents who trace their roots to India and follow many traditional customs of India.

At the Aapravasi Divas, today morning, the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adiyanath and Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) MSME, Shri Giriraj Singh addressed the distinguished audience of political leaders of Mauritius comprising of Hon. Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, Prime Minister of Mauritius, the Rt. Hon. Sir Anerood Jugnauth, Minister Mentor and Minister of Defence and Rodrigues, Hon. Showkutally Soodhun, Vice Prime Minister, Cabinet Ministers, leaders of political parties, dignitaries from various walks of life and the media. They also laid wreath at the Aapravasi Ghat.

During the course of the visit, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Yogi Adiyanath and the Hon’ble Minister of State for MSME Shri Giriraj Singh will be meeting Hon. Paramasivum Pillay Vyapoory, Acting President of the Republic of Mauritius, the Rt. Hon. Sir Anerood Jugnauth, Minister Mentor and Minister of Defence and Rodrigues, and Hon. Xavier Luc Duval, Leader of the Opposition. They will attend a reception hosted by the High Commissioner of India in their honour at Indira Gandhi Centre for Indian Culture, where they will meet representatives of various socio-cultureal organisations of Mauritius, representing all sections of Mauritian society. Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Yogi Adiyanath will hand over OCI Cards to select Mauritians at the reception.

During their visit, the dignitaries will also be visiting Ganga Talao, Ramayana Centre and the Mahatma Gandhi Institute.
