Third round of talks on

Comprehensive Economic Cooperation and Partnership Agreement (CECPA) between India and Mauritius

(22-24 January 2018)

The 3rd round of discussions on the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation and Partnership Agreement (CECPA) between India and Mauritius were held in Mauritius from 22-24 January 2018. The last two rounds were held in September 2016 in Mauritius and in September 2017 in New Delhi. The Indian delegation was led by Shri Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce and the Mauritian delegation by Shri N. Boodhoo, Director, Trade Policy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

During the talks, fruitful discussions were held between the two sides to take cooperation forward on four pillars of the CECPA, i.e. Trade in Goods, Trade in Services, Investment and Economic Cooperation. The discussions covered the areas of further liberalization of tariff lines, rules of origin, priority areas for cooperation in the services sector, using Mauritius as a hub for Indian companies to reach out to Africa, and enhanced general economic cooperation.
