Award of Metro Express project contract 

            The contract for the nearly USD 550 million Metro Express project, one of the largest infrastructure projects in Mauritius, being implemented with Government of India assistance through a loan-grant combination, was awarded today by the Government of Mauritius. The 26 km light rail transport would link Port Louis with Curepipe. The contract was signed between Metro Express Ltd, an SPV established by the Government of Mauritius and M/s Larsen & Toubro. Hon. Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius, Hon. Ivan Collendavelloo, Deputy Prime Minister, Hon. Nandcoomar Bodha, Minister of Public Infrastructure and Land Transport, and Shri Abhay Thakur, High Commissioner of India to Mauritius, were present on the occasion.
