Commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the Mumbai terror attack

on 26 November 2018

The 10th anniversary of the horrific terror attacks in Mumbai was commemorated by the High Commission of India on 26 November 2018 at the Indira Gandhi Centre for Indian Culture (IGCIC), in the presence of Ms. Ambrita Devi Gunness, wife of Late Mr. Anil Gunness, the then CEO of the State Bank of Mauritius, who unfortunately fell victim to the Mumbai attacks. The commemorative event, held just prior to the annual Convocation Day of the IGCIC, was attended by the Acting President of the Republic of Mauritius H.E. Mr. Paramasivum Pillay Vyapoory, Minister of Tourism Hon. Anil Kumarsingh Gayan, members of the victim’s family, and the Secretary for Foreign Affairs Amb.(Mrs) Usha Canabady, and an audience of over 500 persons. The event began with two minutes of silence, followed by remarks by Secretary of Foreign Affairs Amb. Usha Canabady, High Commissioner of India Shri Abhay Thakur, Tourism Minister Mr. Anil Gayan and Acting President H.E. Mr. Paramasivum Pillay Vyapoory. They paid tribute to the victims of the attack, condemned terrorism in all its forms unequivocally, and underscored the need to bring all the perpetrators of the attacks to justice. The entire Convocation Day proceedings were dedicated to the memory of Late Mr. Anil Gunness.
