COMMISSIONING OF MAURITIUS COAST GUARD SHIP (MCGS)

"VALIANT"

1.       The second of the two Water Jet Fast Patrol Vessels "CGS Valiant", built by M/s Goa Shipyard Ltd, was commissioned by the Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, Prime Minister of Republic of Mauritius on 16th August 2017 at Port Louis, Mauritius.

2.       The 50m Patrol Vessel was ceremonially commissioned into the Mauritius Coast Guard in presence of the Rt. Hon. Sir Anerood Jugnauth, Minister Mentor, Minister of Defence, Minister for Rodrigues of the Republic of Mauritius, H.E. Mr Abhay Thakur, the High Commissioner of India, Rear Admiral Shekhar Mital, NM (Retd), CMD, Goa Shipyard Ltd and Rear Admiral Surendra Ahuja Representative of the Indian Navy.

  

3.       The Indian Navy overview the contribution and provided training to the crew. CGS Valiant is the third ship to be commissioned into the National Coast Guard of Mauritius supplied by an India Defence Shipyard.
